So, aside from the above, brilliant, Apples in Stereo album, which gets better with every listen, current faves are...
Battles - Atlas
Frankly mental tribal drums, squeaky vocals and choppy guitar lunacy. Rest of their album's shockingly bad, but this is genius.
Wu-Tang Clan - Ain't Nothing to Fuck With (Bird Peterson mix)
Courtesy of
Fluxblog, the Wu-Tang violated on the dancefloor.
Gameboy/Gamegirl - Sweaty Wet / Dirty Damp
Also thanks to Fluxblog for this faintly filthy sounded Aussie tune, fits neatly into the 80s vibe going on in my head alongside...
Calvin Harris - Acceptable in the 80s
This year's Mylo, maybe, for better or worse, this is a brilliantly bouncy retro piece, that sounds as though Richard X had a hand in it, and there's not much praise higher than that! Honourable mention for Kool Uncle - Big and Dirty Dreams, which is apprently a bootleg by King Unique... Human League's 'Things that dreams are made of' and Martini Bros 'Big and Dirty' (albeit I'm about 2 years late on that one...
Fujiya Miyagi - Ankle Injuries
Reminds me a bit of Lali Puna's 'Rapariga Da Banheira', with a kind've driving bass groove, whilst a softly spoken bloke bangs on about pixelated jazz mags...
So. What's floating your boat at the moment?
