Triple J are having 2manyDJs host their radio soulwax show live each night while the vivid fest is in action.Just for the non-techie and overseas users here are some download links:

Have to say that this is just about the least encouraging interview I could imagine. Sounds as though Pav's got them there at gunpoint, the album's not finished and they're sick to death of it. Not massively surprised the show was a bit of a letdown.

Fingers crossed they'll have their peckers up a bit more when they actually have a shiny finished copy in a shiny finished sleeve in their hands…

I'm still in 'believe it when I see it' mode at the moment - with every half-arsed Modular pronouncement, it's sounding more like 'contractual obligation' than anything else…

another project they are creating music for?

it at least blows out of the water the perception upheld by some, which is that they have been dormant and done with for years. They are obviously not comfortable saying the recod is 'ready' , you're right there. Awkward city when the soulwax guy asked if they'd preview a track!

Yeah i didn't really find that discouraging, it didn't sound like they were unhappy with the new record, it more sounded to me like they've been working on it for so long that they got to the "it can never be perfect so i dont want to release it" stage that comes with any really important artrwork. I'm positive the record will be good or else the avalanches wouldn't release it. I hope they end up doing the "release 4 records" thing because that would make up for some lost time. My only wish is that they would have possibly given a date or at least a season in which the new album will be released. But oh well, i just have to wait...
