Should we contemplate the possibility that it might actually be coming?

Jeepers!

I was not expecting this :o

And here I was just getting excited about things like going to one more Big Day Out, and seeing The Hold Steady, and going to Laneway Festival, and the Ashes . . . summer, have you got one more big ticket item for me? 8)

BTW, like the new board. Thanks Clint!

Heh.

I'm trying to figure out if there's someone sitting in Modular's office clutching a CD going 'FUCK YEAH!' or possibly 'oh shiiiiit…'…

Someone on ilxor had this to say:

Quote:
was chatting with a friend of one of the band members last night and had to ask the question. was told (paraphrasing here) that the record has been completed for fucking ages and it was being held up by the other member having panic attax about it not being good enough to release. grain of salt etc

Is there anyone else who has this feeling like they've already released this album and its just sitting there somewhere on the internet but no one has found it yet

But they also had a 2010 release date for the list they made the previous year:

Can we find out which one so we can send reassuring hugs and cheer me up messages so he/they get off their high horse and let the fans have something!? I'd rather have a not good enough album than a non-album

Totally, even though I REALLY want a new avalanches album to listen to. I would rather wait until they feel it's good enough to release, we've waited to long for a letdown

I heard a great rumour today… from a ludicrously convoluted source so feel free to ignore.

Apparently, where previously the words 'animation project' would only ever be an answer to the question 'what's most likely to pointlessly delay the release of the new Avalanches album'… it sounds as though there might be something visual alongside the new album.

Go figure…

Simon

Of course (palm slaps forehead) - animation!

So of course it will have to be something ground-breaking . . . Gorillaz have got their thing sorted. What would the Avs do . . .

Time for idle speculation now then . . . maybe something like Shaun Tan http://www.shauntan.net/ . . . or maybe animated Japanese style origami . . . no wait, bet it will be something like hand-painted animation cels ala 1940s Walt Disney . . . or maybe they've decided to do it themselves, hence the past five years have been spent reading graphic novels and perfecting animation techniques to go with the already completed album . . .

Thanks Simon - great tip! And even if it doesn't come true, it was fun to dream for a while there! :)
