I initially thought this thread was in the wrong area, until I came to my senses and rememberd that the musical worth of the resin dogs really doesn't qualify them for our music section after all...

hmmm...i dont understand. i always thought they were a well respected group...

they are one of few hip hop/hip hop influenced groups who have made it "big" who are respected in the hip hop scene, as well as by the "hip" (triple j) crowd...

eh...i think they are cool. though i dont actually own their album...i should buy it...

Hey i have seen them over 20 times the first being after the avalanches at a Beastie Boys gig. I admit their albums stuff doesn't have a great, deep, save the world meaning to it.

But they are a great shake your arse to live band who have amazing crowd involvement.

Look I wouldn't call destiny's child very musical either but Dexta doesn't mind playing them. If the Resin dogs had half destiny's child's production money......

this is where you lost me... destiny's child have some excellent singles. the resin dogs do not. but that's just my opinion :) maybe if the resin dogs let rodney jerkins, missy elliot and she'kspere help write their songs they'd sound a bit fresher... :P

i find their stuff to be pretty cliched and cheesy, to be honest.

it's true that they're better live than on record, but i just don't really like their songs at all to begin with.... and no amount of production money is gonna change that.

i'm not looking for deep and meaningful, but it's just they overuse the same samples to death (when they weren't even exciting / innovative to begin with!), and some of their rhymes are totally lame...

maybe it's partly a cultural cringe thing, i dunno... i could go on, but i think i better stop here before i get my head ripped off

I suppose I truly agree with you all. But I have had sooo many good times dancing to the doggies that maybe I have the tendency to build them up a bit. Sorry for the lame argument.

...yeah, alright, I don’t necessarily love the singles either, it’s more their rare tracks, mix tapes, live performances, side projects (2dogs, blunted stylus...., all the collaborations with aussie hip-hop groups...)... which I like them for.

Which I reckon goes for the majority of fans of ANY!! bands; the best tracks of you’re your favourite bands aren’t the singles, or the ones on the surface....or the ones played on triplej...............

(i.e. frontier psychiatrist...: average single in my opinion; it’s all facets of the band which get through to fans of the avalanches after not-too-long... )

and to chuck a shit at the resin dogs for the singles you’ve heard is a tad hypocritical...?!

i've heard their album and one of the earlier ep's, and seen 'em play a couple of times too... certainly enough to form a pretty fair opinion.

i honestly didn't mean for all this to turn into some bitchfest though, it was just a harmless jest....
