During the baseball game last night on Fox, Volkswagen aired a TV commercial for the Beetle last night that comes with the very cool feature of an Ipod with a car connection kit.
The delightful "Light and Day/Reach for the Sun" by The Polyphonic Spree played in the background...Very cool 8)

you can tell volkswagen they can call me for feedback the next time they're working up an ad, as i apparently am their target audience :D

Interesting how stuff like that bobs up!

Coke is running an ad down here in Oz that features the Soulwax Stooges/Salt n Pepa mash-up. Obviously someone in the ad agency got into 2 Many DJs!

it's not the actual mash up, it's a sound-alike.

clearly inspired by it though... heh.

Thanks Cap

Funny, I went home and had another listen to 2 Many DJs after I posted that item and thought there might have been something different about Coke's version.

Now that you've cleared that up - excuse the dim question but would they have redone it themselves from the originals or got a studio/production house to reproduce the originals? (Does that make sense???).

Anyway, just wondering . . .

the 'stooges' part is definately re-recorded... they may have used the "Push It" acapella though, those voices sound pretty close. But i'd have to listen again. They probably re-recorded the whole thing though, voices and all, for legal reasons.

(in the case of deni hynes) royalty payments are cheaper to get her to 'cover' a popular track than to use the actual original (if it'd cost too much to license it directly)

otherwise ad agencies just create sound-a-likes and generally get away with it scot free...
