...which is between "Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and "The Smiths - The Boy With The Thorn In His Side" ? It also plays a little bit more after the Smiths song, but it's not "Thomas Bangalter - Turbo" as listed on the tracklist.

Any thoughts?

Sorry Captain, I'm still unable to find it even in your website.
I downloaded a lot of Thomas Bangalter song off from Soul Seek and I could find that a song called "Extra Dry" is also played in that part, but it is not the one I'm looking for either.

There's a thrid sample on it. It's mostly the low bassline (not the distorted one) using D-E-C notes that occours along with the sample "Saturday, it's saturday" by Cyndi.

By the way, I'm looking foward in hearing your mixes. Specially the one with the Smashing Pumpkins sample. Which song did you use? :)

actually, the "saturday saturday" sample is from de la soul, "a rollerskating jam called saturday," which i happened to find on 12-inch a couple weeks ago :)

i'm sure the de la track is in the tracklist -- that tune is sampled about 100 times on that mix.

But why am the mother fuckin BOMB?!?!?!?!? because the song after "Looking up to you" is
"Os Tres Morais - Freio Aerodynamico" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ARGH!!! confirmed!!!!!! hehe about time. although, i think simon mentioned this before, and no-one paid attention.

Ok, I found the song. It is indeed:
De La Soul - A Roller Skating Jam Named "Saturdays".

It seems to be 2 versions of this song, that's why I couldn't find it.
Thanks guys.

altho dis thread may seem to b repeatin stuff, it actually aint. i hav sum probs wiv coupla bitz of gimix traxlist & dis iz 1 of em. i bin ponderin dees points fer a whiles. (yes riko it has bin up since dis new website started, dats how we gotz a few more trax). so, here goes...

1.
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Portrait)
Thomas Bangalter - Turbo (Roulé)
The Smiths - The Boy With The Thorn In His Side (Rough Trade)
Thomas Bangalter - Spinal Scratch (Roulé)
Madcatt Courtship - The Kitty Lounge (City Rockers)

groovypanda put up spinal scratch info inna diff feelin thread a whiles back (so, not easy to locate, hehe). i d/l turbo in AG dayz & to me it iz indeed so.

2.
Electric Light Orchestra - Livin' Thing (Epic)
DJ Riz - Live From Brooklyn (Loud)
Os Tres Morais - Freio Aerodynamico (-)
Fern Kinney - Together We Are Beautiful (WEA)

i received sum info from a friend:
> Mickey Mouse Club - Mickey Mouse Club Theme (Disney)
> Zhane - Hey Mr. DJ (Columbia)
... was directly taken from "DJ Riz live from Brooklyn". I think it's Michael Wycoff - "Looking Up To You" (RCA) and not Zhane (she only sampled this track, and I think that Riz played the original)

again. i d/l riz in AG dayz & it iz indeed so.

eggy, brilliant gettin dat Os Tres Morais track. i really cant rekall any1 mentionin dat b4

Zero, you are right about Zhane.. that's an old mistake that has somehow been left in .

The Bangalter track is definitely "Extra Dry" though ... have a listen...

Did you actually download gimix from the site?? If anyone did, please let me know. Because i've never heard the mp3 that was offered at theavalanches.com - does it run for 46 minutes??

Whoa, i just downloaded Live from Brooklyn. NICE!!! I wouldn't mind a tracklisting for that baby, one for total old-skool trainspotters.

But I vote that it safely be removed from the GIMIX tracklist... after all the tracks are clearly mickey mouse and the "looking up to you" track.....

i can't believe the Avs cheated :D hehhe.

Cheeky bugger..... thought clearly I couldn't remember where it came from, and had neither album nor Gmix to hand to check it out....

I would venture to suggest that one of The Avalanches has a copy of Blue Brazil 2. ;)

Outstanding work by the Avs Scholars (which institute of higher learning is going to be the first to create a subject on identifying samples by the Avs!)

Your forensic work is much appreciated.

I recall that I actually ended up on the old version of the board when I was searching for the question of where all the samples came from . . . great to see the evolution of the board and the scholarship as well.

Take a bow and pat yourselves on the back (if that's possible).

And Simon, put your drinking boots on if you catch up with Potthole. The lad doesn't mind a quiet one or two (Alex, if you see this, I haven't forgotten that I owe you a few and will set up a return meet at the Regatta upon your return)
Cheers
Steve

nice work on mickey mouse there Zero. Though i think the label is Buena Vista, rather than Disney.

The Jon Carter - Break Dance Electric Boogie track ... i just CANNOT hear it in the Gimix promo.
But, it's definitely one of the samples used on "Live at Dominoes."
