Return to New York again!

Now this is going to be a corker:

Soulwax djs
Erol Alkan
New Order vs Pet Shop Boys DJ set (so that’s why Neil Tennant was propping up the bar at the last one)
Freedum (live) – Peaches Gonzales, and Taylor Savvy’s rock band!
Loose Cannons (live) – like Basement Jaxx meets Prince, according to Ross Allen
Arthur Baker (of course)
Curtis Mantronix (original electro hip hop set!)
Sean McLusky

Great Eastern Hotel again – date: 22nd Feb :D

Riko - there are plans for a Return to New York in NYC too but i've no idea where/when.

Emma - this must be the year for clashes like that. i've got a mate's wedding in belgium on glastonbury weekend and i'm not pleased about it (especially if Prince headlines)

from http://www.dancefrontdoor.co.uk/modules ... le&sid=465

Quote:
Following the success of November's debut 'Return To New York' night, Arthur Baker, the legendary producer behind 'Planet Rock', and London club promoter Sean McLusky have announced the next series of their international club experiments.
'Return To New York' aims to span the decades between clubland's innovative roots in the Big Apple 20 years ago and new trends in the expanding electronic music family. The events unite old and new DJs and live bands that have a common bond in boundary breaking, but who are otherwise unlikely to share the same billing.
Their first event featured performances from the Legendary LCD soundsystem and Princess Superstar, as well as Baker himself, Soulwax and Erol Alkan of Trash fame.
The years' RTNY programme will return to the Great Eastern Hotel in London on Saturday 22 February and will feature Arthur Baker, his old mates New Order going head-to-head on the decks with Pet Shop Boys, Soul Wax, Kurtis Mantronik, Erol Alkan, Freedom, Peaches, Gonzales, Taylor Savvy and Loose Cannons.
Further events are being planned for New York, at the Mark Ballroom on 1 March, and Miami on 21 March at the Soho Lounge.

This is all I can find about it.

yeah me & goldfish SHOULD be in brighton

viv you won't be jealous when you hear that hundreds of people who got tickets for return to new york didn't get in - apparently the door limit was 1100 - the promoter had a guestlist of 500 & sold 2000 tickets! just damn greedy

pet shop boys vs new order was good nothing out of the ordinary, the highlight for me was dj yoda's set although soulwax where pretty damm good as well all in all a very very good night  shame to hear about problems getting in, but i personally did not have a problem. I took a few photos not sure how to post them up hear though.
I will be in brighton tomorrow for lemon jelly, I will be wearing 6th issue of the avalanche t shirt club and be with my girlfriend and a freind, if you see me please come say hello!

"might as well JUMP! Go ahead and JU-MP!" :D

I wholeheartedly agree with you bc10, Yoda's was definitely the best set of the night. anyone who can play two dj shadow tracks, punjabi mcs, van halen & axel f is fine by me!

Soulwax were good - similar style of set to last time but with 'easy lover', 'bucci bag' and some track about 'temporary secretary' sticking in the memory....and an encore of the street's 'hold it down'.

downsides (for me) were the overcrowding, broken glass glass on the floor (a mate slipped, cut his side and had to have eight stitches) and feedum (peaches & gonzales' band who i found pretty dull).
