anyone wanna make and swap mixtapes?

it's been a really long time since anyone imposed their tastes on me and i miss it! it's what made audiogalaxy so good.

you can make them as elaborate or half-arsed as you want, just so long as you're sharing music you really love.

any format is ok by me.

leave expressions of interest here and we'll work out how it goes from there :)

You know heaps of music hey? It may require some thinking.

gladly join in, tho i shll forewarn that i've only had my decks about 3 weeks so my mixing leaves 'ahem' a little to be desired!

tho my ability to upload/download stuff is very limited - i'd happily send out a minidisc

quite a few of my mixes are available on soulseek but i think i've already forced those down your throat on the audiogalxy groups minna ;)

[SHAMELESS PLUG] of my downtempo mixes people on this board would probably enjoy music for the chilled generation volume 3 as it's got a real hip hop flava to it with some great tracks from the likes of D.I.T.C and coolio [/SHAMELESS PLUG]

i'm about to do a volume 5 which has got a more drum 'n bass feel to it...

ok, it's great that people are interested in doing this! i was thinking rather than everyone sending me tapes and me sending out heaps, it would be better if we had a system where everyone was giving and receiving just one tape.

maybe a theme would be a good idea - feel free to make suggestions! the theme needn't be stuck to slavishly though.

in the meantime i'll put together a list of everyone who's spoken up here and try and arrange it in some kind of order. i don't think geography will have any bearing on the way it's organised, because we're all only going to be sending one item anyway. it will be random, more or less!

ok. that's enough of my thinking aloud. i'll post back with a list and a due date. meanwhile you can get thinking about themes and things of that nature.

Coming in late on this (as usual!).

Great suggestion GT and well supported by all it seems.

MixTapes are beyond me at the moment . . . but the imminent arrival of broadband and a cd burner means that I won't need much prompting to inflict compilation CDs on folk.

Count me in . . . I look forward to developments.

Cheers,
Steve

Hey all..
I think what Girlthursday was suggesting has been miscontrued a lil' bit - It would just be great to make tapes of songs we currently love, and swap 'em around. Especially timely cos it's almost that Christmassy time of year..
You don't have to be a dj or mix stuff up or anything (though you could if you wanted) just pop your fave tunes on a 60 or 90 min cassette, or on a cdr if you're that way enclined.

And sure, we can upload tunes to share at any time. and we should too!!

But i think min was referring to a more tangible, sorta good-ol' fashion let's-passionately-make-a-cool-tape-to-pass-on-to-a-friend sorta vibe.

In any case, count me in :D
