I happened to score a ticket to see The Beach Boys last week in Melbourne. To be honest, I had never been a big fan and really had no experience with them outside advertising and some avalanches mixtapes. I was mildly enthusiastic about it but in the end was blown away. Anyway, I have since been listening to the 40th anniversary edition of Pet Sounds - an album I had never heard before. I absolutely love it to death - it's pretty much all I want to listen to at the moment. I am becoming increasingly interested / obsessed with Brian / Carl / Dennis too. So yeah, 36 years old, just discovering Pet Sounds.

Anything you would like to confess?

Love Pet Sounds! And Brian Wilson's a genius.

Me too now, but that's not a confession!

I know of at least one member who should be confessing his obsession and undying love for Craig David.

Ok. As a child of the 80s, I do solemnly confess to liking The Thompson Twins.

But the real confession is this: I still think they're pretty cool. Glossy cartoon pop, perfectly crafted. They tried to do 'serious' but found themselves thwarted by their own hairstyles. Hold Me Know was drenched in tragedy, but every other song was a Warhol: brightly coloured, tongue in cheek and ultimately disposable.

Nobody likes them now. Nobody! They are officially the Point and Giggle of the 80s. If there was a Thompson Twins Pride March it would be just me and a red, wedgy wig with a ponytail.

Strangely, they went on to change their name and produce some successful techno tracks and this sublime chillout gem, Beautiful.

As for (one ov)me musical confessions, i'd say bee gees' trafalgar&odessa both are among the great things i've heard recently, quite far away from their disco trip...

I sometimes enjoy the music of AKB48.
