Hi everyone!

For the 2nd year of my music degree at Surrey University one of the options was a 6000 word research project on anything music related you wish, I chose to write mine on Since I Left You. I mainly focus on the treatment of samples, the songs chosen, I also do a bit of comparing with Girl Talk. I'll put up a download link to it when i've finished, it should be up some point next week. The content is probably full of stuff you already knew but it'll give you all something to mull over until album two comes out :P

No doubt i'll post my mark when it get it too... unless it's really bad..

Hey,

Well personally I don't mind Girl Talk and he was a very good artist to compare with in the essay, but don't worry I don't start saying he's better than the avalanches!

anyway.. here it is!

After just reading it now (I kind of rushed it so I could go to animal collective atp..) there are a few bits I don't really like but on the whole I was pretty pleased. Also after listening to the album non stop for about a week if anything my appreciation has gone way up, I was a bit scared i'd get sick of it, but maybe that's not possible!

Good stuff Charliec. Anyone looking for more Aussie sample based music should checkout DJ Soup's Souperloops from 1997 (re-released in 2008?). Pretty sure it's made entirely of samples too.
