Hi everyone and a happy new waiting year 2010 :D

This topic is probably something that has been brought up before, but i've been browsing through all the recent post without finding what I was looking for. So forgive me if this is a "newbie" question.

Also forgive me for my poor english. I'm swedish and i get along speaking pretty well but writing is harder...

Enough with the excuses. Here's my question.

The "chorus" of the main title song "Since I left you" is sampled from the main attractions "Everyday" That's a fact

In that song, she sings "Since I met you"
She is not singing "Since I left you" or the whole meaning of the song would be wrong.

Directly after that phrase, she sings "I found a/the world so new.

Has something been changed/added in the avalanches version? Or did they just speed it up and thought that the sound would be so muffled that nobody would care, or is this just a thing to get everybodys brain to fry?
And while I'm at it; Shouldn't the phrase afterwards be "I found a world so blue"?
Which I thought it was when I first heard the song back in 2000

But then again, If it's a happy song wich I think :D , "I Found a world so new" seems like there referring to a new beginning.

Could someone help me with this trivia?

Best wishes to all you avs fans throughout the world.

Soon people... soon.

/Molle

You're correct, the title and indeed the whole song "Since I Left You" is based on a sample which says "Since I MET You" ... no one would know, though, unless they heard the original. Right?

Also of note, it's a male vocalist not a 'she' :)

So the bit we know and love is NOT a sample, but an original bit "based" on a sample? And who sings the Avs bit?

I don't know if I've misinterpreted things, but I don't think that anyone's suggesting that it's not a sample, are they?

It's a sample from Main Attraction's 'Everyday', a song sung by a bloke, that's speeded up so it sounds like a girl. When you listen to it knowing it's 'met' rather than 'left', you can hear it - makes perfect sense.

Thanks for the info, but sorry for messing things up again.

The "person" singing the lead vocal on The Main attractions song CAN'T be a he. I've listened to the song so many times and I would bet my left arm that it is a she. There's only one woman in the group. And she has a deep Alto voice in my opinion!

Or am I wrong?

You know, I think you might have a point there Molle - think I might've been kidding myself a bit. It's hard to find much information about the band, but one of the most obvious bits of evidence is the woman sitting in the middle of the album cover… odd voice though.

Probably need a better, non-compressed version to listen with more conviction, or maybe someone with a copy of the album…
