We thought it would be fun to run a little experiment exclusively on this forum even though we're quite openly piggy-backing our own shameless promos onto The Avalanches' forum and not through our own myspace etc...

We have a track called Luau at Jeromes which we originally came up with a few years back after a boozy night out at one of the early Avalanches Brains monthly shows and have remixed it for the El Futuro release, so we have these 2 very different yet similar tracks of the same name floating out there on the interweb.

Anyway, we thought it would be fun to get The Avalanches forum peeps to compare the 2 versions and let us know your thoughts. If enough of ya dig the new version we will make it available for free download from our myspace page for a short window of time and only let this forum in on it rather than force ya'll to go through iTunes for the mp3 should you want to download it.

The old version can be found here

http://www.mp3.com.au/Track.asp?id=123066

and the 2009 album version is on our myspace:

www.myspace.com/thepryortheory

Will check back in a little while to see if this generates any interest and interesting discussion and let ya'll know when the track can be downloaded free from the myspace

Peace
Kid Katana

Here's what Rolling Stone had to say:

The Pryor Theory - El Futuro 3/5 stars - Rolling Stone Issue 698 January 2010

Breezy Aussie style mavericks live up to their growing reputation

With a name inspired by the late comic genius Richard Pryor and an opening track that samples goofy dialogue from the film Do the Right Thing, the Pryor Theory seem comfortable giving listeners the initial impression that they're playing it for laughs. It turns out the tongue-in-cheek introduction is a red-herring - although never in danger of taking itself too seriously, El Futuro is a relatively straight faced collection of soulful singing over electronic, hip-hop-inspired beats and samples that has echoes of similar stylistic mavericks such as Gotye and The Avalanches. Winners of Triple J Unearthed in 2006, the duo of Kid Katana (Matthew Kimberley; vocals and turntables) and Martino (Martin Steinocker; drums and programming) have a gleeful everything-and-the-kitchen-sink approach that sees them veering from Hot Chip-style electro-pop ("Sneaker Rat") to joyous sample-fests ("Hey There", "Luau at Jeromes"). El Futuro may not be breaking any new ground, but its collection of breezy tunes provides an adequate late-night summer soundtrack - by James Jennings

Key tracks: Sneaker Rat, Several Thousand Questions
