Just heard the album sampler for Bibio's album 'Ambivalence Avenue' which comes out on Warp in June...made me think of the avalanches, koushik, boards of canada, the free association, shortwave set and countless other bands we talk about on here all the time so wanted to share:

Anyone know anything about him? I'm really looking forward to hearing this in full

well he was previously on Mush records, uses mostly 4 track lo-fi string recordings. I think he's friends with Clark, did a really good remix for him, and that's partly brought him attention to Warp records. Definitely carries the 80's BOC memory feel to his music, but with more warmth and casualness.

looking fwd to this too. it does sound like he's adjusted his sound to be a bit more warp-ish. he's always had similarities with boc, but now it's even closer. there's some of the warmer sounding sides of prefuse 73 too circa extinguisher.

did anyone else get into this album? i have to say i'm so glad i did and that it led me to his other material.

the previous album (vignetting the compost) and the follow-up (the apple and the tooth - remixes of amibivalent tracks plus four new ones) both really did it for me too - discovery of the year for me
