This has to be my album of the year! The mash ups are amazing. This guy mixes and changes songs almost every 30 seconds. Some times mixing 4 different songs ontop of each other at the same time. Its a bit like the Avs and 2many DJs but a bit more hip hoppy. Girl Talk is playing at this years Meredith Festival and he is suppose to do a wicked live show. He is playing late late on the Saturday night. Which is the time slot that Dexter, Dela Cruz, and the Avs usuallly play. If you havent already, do your self a huge favour and check this album out.

"Tonight Mathew, I'm going to be Stars on 45, the hip hop edition..."

AKA Girl Talk - "Feed the Animals"

I mean, it's quite funny, but that's not really what we're after, is it...? It's like being stuck in a traffic jam with everyone pumping out different radio stations really loud.

Or maybe I'm getting old...

Simon

this is soul-less.

tricks for tricks sake, nothing funny or particularly interesting. it almost sounds like it was put together and made (not mixed, but conceived) entirely by a computer.

I have heard several varying opinions on old boy in the past couple of years. I found that cd VERY catchy and even now many of the songs on it when i hear their normal versions i imagine his mashups instead. It is indeed somewhat soul-less and many of my dj buddies cant stand it. But i take it with a grain of salt and have grown a healthy respect for what he does. But that tape is OLD - doesnt he have a new one already?
And i think what sets him aprt from the Avs is he just chops up gridded music and makes new grids -the Avs use organic samples and sounds and way manipulate thair samples so it becomes something new entirely.

it's called 'feed the animals', available for whatever you want to pay, from here.

my opinions are stated above, though you might like it if you liked the previous one.
