Cheers for that Steve, very entertaining.

Just got back from the Beasties, who were fucking ace. Brilliant balance between old school hip hop and their instrumental stuff, and they finished with Sabotage. So. Much. Fun.

And I'm determined to see Money Mark sometime, as he almost stole the show.

I've already seen AiH a couple of times. First show was demented; they had the full band, with a 3 piece brass section. They finished up dragging people up from the audience to sing their national anthems. Properly batty.

The second time I didn't think worked so well... I thought the brass section missing was sad, and it all seemed a bit flakey. Mind you, that was just before the new album came out, so may be a bit more polished this time. Hopefully we shall see, if I can talk anyone into coming.

Manu Chao on Friday (sort've... actually suspect it might be a bit shite...) and Underworld on 18th (ditto - new album sounds awful so far).

I'm lookn4ward2:

Rage Against The Machine
Bjork
Unkle
Dizee Rascal
- Big Day Out 2008

DJ Dexter - Grilla Step Project
DJ Kuya - DigitAnalogue set (It's brilliant! Hit up his myspace and encourage him to tour it globally!!!)

"Broken Windows" - Debut LP from The Pryor Theory (Working on finishing it this summer! Promise it won't take as long as the Avs!!)

More Midnight Juggernauts, Katalyst, Hilltop Hoods, Gotye, New Buffalo, TZU, Gerling, Scribe, Cut Copy, The Presets, The Tongue, Urthboy, and Avalanches live shows (Melbourne rulz!)

Vocal version of "The Mix Up" - Beastie Boys (Hopefully featuring Lily Allen, MIA, and Jarvis Cocker if rumours are to be believed)

"In Rainbows" boxed edition - new Radiohead album (I've ordered it from radiohead.com.... comes with double vinyl and cd plus artwork and book.. You can download all the mp3s for as little as 2 pence or pay as much as you think its worth. Radiohead out of record contract and challenging the current music distribution model. Wishing them well!!)

Star Wars live action series for television set between Episodes III and IV

"Inland Island" - David Lynch (Still hasn't popped up in Oz to my knowledge)

St Jeromes Laneway Festivals and parties

DJ Perplex @ World DMC finals October 7 (Ozzi Ozzi Ozzi! Oi Oi Oi!)

Finding more cool shit on YouTube

Telling my grandchildren about when we were all waiting for The Avalanches 2nd album to come out "back in the day" and that if they behave themselves it might be released in time for their next birthday! But only if they behave and not post any nastiness on any forums!

Peace

OK well the Daft Punk thing is a major let down... sound quality poor, and still no DVD. Disappointed.

Partially scrap the above... it appears some dumbass split the Coachella live bootleg to appear like the new Alive 2007 CD. The real thing sounds better. I shall be buying.

Still no DVD though, so that's still crap.

Little did I know when I posted what I was looking forward to in 2008 that my band would win the Triple J Unearthed Big Day Out competition for Victoria and get to actually play at the Melbourne Big Day Out! Some photos are available here >>>

http://blogs.abc.net.au/triplej/2008/01 ... -pryo.html

Dizzee Rascal went off, as did Muph & Plutonic, Arcade Fire, Bjork... and Rage Against the Machine were off the scales!

If all goes to plan our album will be released this year! I've been working on it for the last 3 years so producing an album (of decent quality) on your computer at home takes a long time, let alone clearing samples, shooting videos, and planning tours! Anyway, 2008 should be a cracker year with or without Avs album 2!

Lots of love, peace, and general goodness

Buying the new Portishead album, which is sounding pretty awesome right now. Need to hear it on vinyl.

i'm really looking forward to coachella in 12 days. the initial lineup took a couple weeks to grow on me, but the more i thought about it, the more excited i got. dan deacon, mgmt, stephen malkmus, portishead, raconteurs, fatboy slim, spiritualized, vampire weekend, cut copy, erol alkan, black kids, kraftwerk, hot chip. i'm even setting aside my david gilmour preference and getting excited about roger waters playing. and in the last couple weeks they've added aphex twin, swervedriver and prince, among others. it's shaping up to be another great fest.

New albums from Junior Boys, The Field and Gui Boratto coming in the next few months.

Also somewhat excited about the new Phoenix album and wish they'd hurry up and finish it already.

Also hoping to see new albums sometime this year from:

The National
Super Furry Animals
Aeroplane
Holy Ghost!
Grizzly Bear
Rokysopp
Peter Bjorn & John
Klaxons
Studio
Burial

and, holding my breath:

The Avalanches
Sufjan Stevens
