El Producto pops up on ebay now and again. I first purchased a copy from ebay for $80 US last year after finally giving up on 3 yrs of trawling every shop here in Melbourne.
Since then (typically) I’ve found it twice in second-hand shops retailing for both $80 Aus and $16 recently. Upon purchase of the $16 copy I did thank the shopkeeper for the bargain! Don’t think he knew its value somehow. Its more beastie boys in its approach but you can defiantly hear the Av’s sound in there. The 2 CD promo of Radio - Gimix is a harder find and I stumped up $100 Aus for that recently!

So who is the Ad-Rock sounding guy who did all the rapping? Not the Japanese guy, but the one who says "ITs in my backpack!"

Hey, maybe somebody knows from where comes the sample used in "Under Inspection" from El Producto- it's a female voice singing something like "I lost that love before"- it starts on 3:07 :?:

And a question for those who have El Producto CD- I mean CD not mp3 version- does it contain any booklet mentioning the samples used in it :?:

Many many many many thanks for any help

Nope. Unlike the album the EP insert cover doesn't contain any info on samples.
its a plain green cover with just the artwork on the cover.
i'm sure someone has investigated this before?

I did some digging.
The sample in "Under Inspection" is from a song called "You've Made Me So Very Happy" written by Motown underdog Brenda Holloway.

Can't be sure who's version they used, but it wasn't the original. Using an educated guess, the version the 'Lanches sampled might be by Ray Conniff and the Singers, from the album We've Only Just Begun

Many thanks Penny for Your help

Now I remembered that long time ago I have found that the song sampled has to be some version of "You've Made Me So Very Happy" but I couldn't find it. And I gave up then.

That sample doesn't come from Conniff and the Singers, but thanks for that name- I listened to 3 albums from Conniff and his singers- and they are all magical :)

After investigation made by me, it seems likely that song sampled is "You've Made Me So Very Happy" http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2FVFXE60ZA5Z20DACO0XTFGDB version performed by Anita Kerr Singers

Again, many thanks for Your help

Hi,

Yeh sorry to post here. I just need to tell someone who appreciated :) Just found a copy of El Producto for $50. It's in really bad nick, but it plays so i'm happy.

Just wondering really how rare it is. Like how many copies were made? Was it really only a few hundred. Cause this was only the second record shop i'd bothered looking for it in and, yeh, maybe i got crazily lucky.

That and also wondering whether gimix will be hard to find cause thats next on my agenda :) Any pics so i don't pick up a fake.

I'm currently selling a copy on eBay, if anybody's interested.

The Item Number is 270122931488.

I didn't really want to sell it, but I'm skint at the moment.

Sad, but these things happen. Think of it as a service to those of us who might want to buy the EP...

I'll be sad to see it go. I rarely play it though, so it's silly just to have it gathering dust. :(
