Premiere: Architecture in Helsinki: "Heart It Races" [Stream]
A van carrying a college acapella group collides with the tour bus of an African percussion troupe, the twisted metal hybrid sweeps up a guy jamming on a beatbox and a brother-sister folk duo and comes to rest at the foot of a living-room organ, and a new Architecture in Helsinki song is born. "Heart It Races"-- already set to be remixed by dj/Rupture, Yacht, and Dr. Dog, among others-- may manage to avoid the mid-song track-jumping of In Case We Die's fickle compositions, improbably staying linear for a whole three minutes, but the ensemble's fractured sensibilities remain manifest in the arrangement. With its patchwork trans-genre rhythm section and steel-drum guide, it's almost as if the song has been pre-Avalanched, an electro-Graceland ornamenting the band's sugary, yelpy indie-pop core. Hopefully, all the multi-vehicle pileups of the forthcoming Places Like This produce such fascinating wreckage.

Big. Fucking. Grin.

Also,

"The Avalanches" make a guest appearance on the new New Buffalo LP (out now in Australia, not sure about US/UK)
Also not sure if that entails Rob, Daz, Tone, or a combination thereof...

From what I've read / seen Sally is quite chummy with Architecture folk, so they probably all know the Av's lads also.

Melbourne - so incestuous!

i've always found the arch in helsinki vocals to be a bit grating. so the beginning of the song wasn't so promising for me... then towards the end, the steel drums and chimes take over... everything becomes very sweet indeed.
