Well i thought this mix was excellent. It fits right in with the classic Cornerstone & Breezeblock mixes, though the actual mixing seems to have bumped up to the enxt level. Sounds like it was done on CDJ's as opposed to Tech 1200s and thats fine by me. Any idea which of the guys did this set?
Oh and the Manitoba track is from their 2nd album, Up In Flames...though now they are called Caribou - the video for this track should be up on Youtube - its AWESOME.

Curious fact I've probably mentioned before... I work with Caribou's brother-in-law...

After a 3rd or 5th listen "Some People" became one of my all time favourites :)

Was it so hard to make it available for download and to write few lines about upcoming album :?:   so little is needed to make everybody happy here :)

This is very, very, very minor in the context of the work that has already been done by the keen ears on this site but, as I usually only know the obvious stuff, I am a bit chuffed to potentially identify something from this mix.

Actually it is just one word, and I'm not going to swear on my kids that I'm 100 percent right, but go with me on this.

In the Fuck You skit - the word "Australia" in reference to the Prime Minister is, if I'm not mistaken, taken from "When The Generals Talk" by Midnight Oil.

(BTW sincere apologies for getting too trivial! )

Keep up the good work and look forward to the next mix! :D

the rapping inserted to `every little step i take` is from bobby browns `on our own` from the ghostbusters 2 soundtrack. i used to have the 12 and got plenty of use from surry hills to bankstown. may mr brown rest in peace.

Yes, you missed something. Unless we're not talking about the late James Brown.

That's what happens when I write something before I go to work in the morning... total bloody nonsense! :)

Sadly Mr B Brown is still with us, albeit staying out've the limelight for the good of humanity.

can someone PLEASE tell me the name of the song at 31:14 in the mix. Its an island/reggae sounding song about someone named Sparrow from what I gather from listening. Lots of good horns and good vocals too. I have asked everyone I know about this and no one has been able to figure it out so I figured you guys of all people would be on the ball. Thanks! - beau

The song is "Simpson (The Funeral Agency Man)" by Mighty Sparrow.

It's not reggae; it's Calypso. This folk music comes from Trinidad. Mighty Sparrow is one of the more famous calypsonians. This is one of his songs from the 1950s... Also it is available on a complilation called "The Mighty Sparrow Volume 4" on the Ice Records label

There's already a forum thread about "Some People" so perhaps put any other questions in that thread.

Love Penny

And of course it should be noted that if you like that, there are some shining Mighty Sparrow / calypso moments in the Ibiza mix set and maybe some of the Breezeblocks?

The looped sample immediately after "burning down the house" is from Paul McCartney "Silly Love Songs"
