Manitoba! Or, well, Caribou....my OTHER favorite besides the Avs - how cool one of his tracks ended up in an Avs set...any other Caribou fans in here?
ANd it sounds like the boys are getting pretty good at dj'ig - they've always had the personality, but it sounds like the actual mixes have gotten smoother in the years since....

I'd never heard anything by Manitoba previously. But that part of the mix blew me away, I'll definitely be checking more out.

Also, I wanted to point out that many sections of "Some People" and a handful of moments from "Brains Teazer" were included in the DJ sets the Avalanches did toward the end of 2005 - including the Jamiroquai tour, Carpark Festival, and Meredith Music Festival.

Look through the archives and you'll find that a lot of people posting around that time had totally lost faith in the avalanches, and said that their DJ sets at the time were nothing but huge disappointments...

Simon and others, however, carried the flame

Penny.

as one who was unimpressed with the meredith set I still reckon it was self indulgent.

And it paled in comparison with their set at splendour last year which was one of the best I have ever seen.....and one which lifted the roof off the tent

It was hilarious watching the kids belting out the bon jovi living on a prayer

I'm more than happy to pay credit where I think it is due

Golden Plains http://www.goldenplains.com.au this march will be interesting with dexter rocking one night and the avalanches the next night......spoilt for choice

Hey Penny,

My hand is in the air as a disappointed fan. While the Carpark/Brains sets were awesome to be a part of (as is the refreshed site & mixes), I was more questioning the fact that the 'live' show wasn't as 'live' as we are led to believe? For mine it appeared that there was a lot of shennanigans on stage to hide the fact that they were playing a pre-mixed CD. Kinda like turning up to a fondue party, and your food is already dipped into the chocolate.
I dunno bout the rest of the peoples, but I go to gigs to experience the 'live' atmosphere which includes fuck-ups in mixes!

Trust me, the faith is still there for me.
