Quite crazy news. I'm excited just to know he has a new album, it sounds like it will be good.

Thanks for posting that Sam, was very interesting. The quiting hip hop thing is fine, but as for the musical direction, time will tell. I hope he isn't going to pull a shadow....

He sounds like a really nice fella from that interview, not up his own arse like some people. Looking forward to the new one...

Interesting read indeed. Sounds like it's going to be exciting to hear what he comes up with. I really like his old stuff.. :)

I kind of saw this direction coming, some of his older conert footage, he was starting to do some songs with accoustic guitar+vocals. I was like "there's no way he's not going to improve this element into his recordings"

you can hear a new track (and another beat) on his myspace page:

i'm really liking it.

i am really disappointed that he appears to have given up altogether on sampling/hip hop. i hope this isn't the case.

don't get me wrong...i do really like the direction he is going with this non-sampling stuff. i just hope that he continues to also make hip hop beats, and/or still uses samples in other work.

Im not feelin it..

Two of my all time favorite artists have really disipointed me this year, RJD2 and Dj Shadow.

Funny thing the Avs are the ones keeping my mood up by not releasing anything

Yeah, I don't like that track at ALL, it's overproduced indy music, and just has no soul. I really hope the rest of the album is a bit better. It seems production is killing the white hip-hopers.
