Just got back from a benefit gig at Fabric in London and saw the nearest equivalent to an avalanches dj set ive seen in ages (or what i imagine one would be like based on the 2001 uk sets, dexter last month and what ive read about their aussie sets).

Basically it was a back-to-back set (one tune each on rotation) by norman cook, damon albarn, remi kabaka (gorillaz) and zane lowe. Between them they managed to cover everything from african music, reggae, hip hop, northern soul, amerie, grace jones, chemical brothers, you name it.

Biggest cheer went to fatboy for a bootleg of 'dirty harry' with 'gangster trippin' and zane's insistance on scratching over everything and ending on 'purple haze' with an extended intro won him the award for most wanting to be like dexter!

Other than that set, annie mac played a great one, as did arthur baker but fatboy's own set bored me to tears.
